1st Chronicles 5:20

20 And they were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all who were with them, for they cried out to God in the battle. He heeded their prayer, because they put their trust in Him. (new King James Version)

This was the verse that God gave me today... I was reading 1st chronicles and i was so bored when i saw that the first few chapters had nothing but names & genealogies, but the Lord asked me not to consider any part of the Word of God, a waste of time... so i continued reading and i read 5 chapters today. This verse is found in the last chapter that i read today, but this verse really spoke to me. I didnt meditate much as I should have, but then, lemme share wat i understood from it and how i might apply it in my life.

The first thing that captures my attention is that, "they cried out to God in the battle". The people must have really pleaded the Lord to help them & that is exactly what i must also do, i think. I must not hesitate to plead and cry to God for help.

And the next part that drew my attention was, "He heeded their prayer". The online dictionary gives the meaning of the verb 'heed' as follows - to give careful attention to. Now thats so amazing, isnt it? The Great and Awesome God of Israel pays careful attention to us, if only we cry out to Him. Wow! thats something interesting!! I am reminded of this song 'sing for joy', which goes like this - "if we call to Him, He will answer us".. something of that sort. It is really nice and comforting to know that GOD himself gives ear to our cry, but I believe there is one condition... and that is the third part of this verse...

"because they put their trust in Him"... Now, we see that God heeded their cry, just because they put their trust in Him. When we completely trust in the Lord and confess that He is our all in all, then, just depend on Him... He is always ready to heed us & our cry... I guess Proverbs 3:5 and 6 says this same thing..
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct[a] your paths.

When we call out to our Living King of Kings , in complete trust in His might and grace, HE WILL heed us, or in other words, HE WILL pay attention to us and will by no means cast us away. He is such a faithful God. Hallelujah!!
